Introduction

The tables before they were painted.
Heather Moores and Matt Cave painting the tables.

Heather Boone had this crazy idea to get local artists to paint on the tables on Cafe Jo's. She had her friend Heather Moores drop by the shop one afternoon in the summer of 1996 to see if free coffee would produce great art.

After the Tea Cup was painted, more artists joined in and contributed their artwork to the table tops. Jo arranged for someone from the Advertiser to drop by and history was made! Cafe Jo's became the coffee shop with funky table tops, painted by its artistic regulars.

When Jo's closed, all the tables were sold and now have new homes. We are now currently trying to figure out the locations and owners of each table, and also trying to get a list of who created each table.

Table hopping was considered a competitive sport in Jo's.
